Replace average position with share of answer
A KPI that still moves when the click does not. How to measure visibility after the ten blue links.
Average position is a comfortable number. It is also increasingly a number about a surface users are not looking at. When an Overview answers the query, position four is a trivia fact.
Share of answer is simpler. Take the questions that represent the business. Ask them of the engines your buyers actually use. Count whether you were named, linked, or recommended. Do it on a schedule. Do not average it into meaninglessness — show the panel.
You will hate the first log. Brands that 'own' a category in Search Console often vanish in chat. That gap is the brief. It tells you whether you have a crawl problem, a passage problem, or a corroboration problem.
Report it next to revenue, not next to rankings. The point is not a prettier dashboard. The point is to stop celebrating a receipt for a room the customer has left.
